Somalia – December 2
The Somalia office of the Global Women's Coalition for Quds and Palestine held a coordination meeting for participants in the East Africa Forum, with representatives from four countries: Somalia, Somaliland, Djibouti, and Palestine.
The session was chaired by:
Ms. Fatima Mohammed – President of the WGCQP in Somalia.
Ms. Asma Al-Ahmad – Deputy Secretary-General and East Africa Coordinator.
Ms. Abeer Al-Rahayel – Executive Director of the Coalition of Scholars and Preachers for Quds and Palestine.
The meeting included introductions of the participants and an exchange of views on mechanisms for joint women's action in the coming period, aimed at strengthening efforts to support Al-Quds and Palestine in the East Africa region.
The attendees also discussed ways to enhance coordination among the participating countries and launch impactful women-led initiatives to support the Palestinian cause, especially given the current circumstances that necessitate concerted efforts and a broader advocacy campaign.
This meeting comes as part of the coalition’s approach to strengthening field work and women’s partnerships in Africa, and to enabling the role of women in humanitarian and human rights causes, primarily the Palestinian cause.
