As part of its official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, a delegation from the Global Women’s Coalition for Quds and Palestine (GWCQP) visited the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Sarajevo on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
The delegation was headed by Ms. Rabab Awad, Secretary-General of the Coalition, accompanied by Ms. Asma Al-Ahmad, First Deputy Secretary-General, and Ms. Sana Mohammed, Regional Director. The delegation also included Dr. Naima Bin Yaich and Dr. Naziha Maarij, representatives of the Al-Zahraa Forum for Moroccan Women.
The delegation was received by Dr. Aid Smajic, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, along with several members of the academic and administrative staff, as well as representatives of the Faculty’s student body (Student Action).
The meeting highlighted the Faculty’s role in producing qualified Islamic scholars and its contribution to empowering women in the fields of dawah and Islamic research. Discussions also addressed ways to strengthen academic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two sides, and to explore opportunities for joint initiatives focusing on women, Islamic education, and the Palestinian cause.
At the end of the visit, the delegation expressed its deep appreciation for the pioneering role played by the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Bosnia, emphasizing the importance of building sustainable bridges of cooperation among Islamic academic institutions worldwide in service of the Ummah’s causes—foremost among them, Al-Quds and Palestine.
